Facebook supports too Cocos Island in Costa Rica

by Research and Information Centre C.I.P.I - Costa Rica on Nov.15, 2009, under Research & Information Center

Facebook media tools is helping www.cocosisland.cr to reach new fans of Cocos Island in Costa Rica and other countries.

This site was created and developed by the engineer Marco Garrido, who dedicated this domain to his mentor Jacques Ives Cousteau (1910-1997) under Mr. Cousteau´s principles, who always quoted that his mission was aimed   ”…for the survival of the future generations..”

Ing. Marco Garrido did this site and information plattform (as he calls it)  for free and gave it away to the world, as the Cocos Island itself which was declared world ´s patrimony by UNESCO since 1997.

www.cocosisland.cr is maybe the most complete and most accurate web site about the island, because it was made with no commercial interest at all, only for the use of those who really are interested in learning a little bit more about the real truth about the island.

National Geographic visits Cocos Island Costa Rica

by Research and Information Centre C.I.P.I - Costa Rica on Nov.15, 2009, under Research & Information Center

NATGEO visited Cocos Island in Costa Rica during September and October 2009 to study its wild life on the island and its submarine life. The scientifics say that never saw such a high shark  poblation density, and think this may be the highest thet ever witnessed before.

They assume that the reasson for these large schools of fishes in general, happen to be because of the marine richness and unbelievable biodiversity in Cocos Island, and that  the better proof of it is the amazing quantity and size of fishes all around.

National Geographic had the time too to witness and film the so called pouching or better known as shark killings, just for their fins, practiced the most by foreign ships and many chinnese guys.

Though MARVIVA and the Guardcoast of Costa Rica are doing their best, our national security and other ONG have not enough personnal and resources to keep a 24 hours watch around Cocos Island.

Special Thanks to….

by Research and Information Centre C.I.P.I - Costa Rica on Feb.03, 2009, under Special Thanks..

This site was not made alone by its own or only by one person….that’s no possible !!!  The whole idea has been molded through time and by many people during all these years, who guided me to find the way to become what I am now , so to speak, with a “litlle” help of my friends and mentors as follows:

1. In first instance, I want to elevate my thanks to Mr. Jacques Ives Cousteau (1917-1997) by dedicating this site as a tribute to him, his family and his organization, who inspired me since the 70′s to see the world from a different perspective, even when not so many people was still concern about our environment .jackes-ives-cousteau

He encouraged me as a child through his films in TV programms, to follow his vision and awareness of the wholeness with his gifted teaching nature  and the most exquisite, simple and  easy way to explain and present things so that even a child could be taught, so far….as to  positively influence him as representant  of the future´s generation, to follow and continue the steps, thoughts and actions of someone he admires.

Thank you very much Mr. Cousteau for teaching me such important lessons and for sharing your wisdom heritage with all the world!

2. Second, but not less than the first, to Turubari Ecological Park of Nature and Adventure Tours, (my last job as their Commercial Director), the place that offered me the invaluable  opportunity to explore again those fields of personal interests that were static until I joined this organization and whose partners have supported my actions and visions with extraordinary confidence and faith in my planning. Thank you all very much!

To George Majjul, expert webmaster and trustful consultant, good friend of mine with whom I started the construction of this site shoulder to shoulder, until he taught me how to stand alone.

To FAICO, Cocos Island Friends Foundation in Costa Rica, for its contribuition with the pictures.

To Ricky Bru C., an “outer space” digital artist and brother who owned a part of my dreams even before he knew me.

Finally and definitely the most important pray from now on, I want to thank and bless  the coming  future  for facilitating this new path and mision for us to travel through, together with every new member that is going to stand at our backs, holding us  and  supporting the cause with  their personal intentions of contributing every time needed  to enhance this site, which since its creation, is property of the mankind and world’s heritage as the Cocos Island itself….

Peace,

by Marco Garrido
