Environmental Defense and Controlling Plan for Costa Rica – Looking for sponsors
by Research and Information Centre C.I.P.I - Costa Rica on Mar.23, 2010, under Our Organization Plans
C.I.P.I Costa Rica (Research & Information Center for Marine and Wildlife Protection), is the organization that owns and manage this whole movement and web site, which main targets are fighting back poaching of sharks, turtles, and dolphins in the oceans and preventing deforestation all over the country as well, together with the preservation of the wildlife at our own Wildlife Sanctuary RAINSONG.Very important achievements have been accomplished in the last 2 years towards these topics as we will explain as follows.
C.I.P.I Costa Rica has worked with its own funds coming from its founder,Ing. Marco Garrido, achieving important goals after 2 years of operation and over $150,000 expended. An operation that was born as a personal project of life, has now grown inmensly in facts and expenses, for which we are looking strategic alliances, sponsorships or donations that can help us perpetuate the good results we have achieved.
OUR HISTORY
Dedicated to the memory of Jacques Cousteau and his principles, this organization was born as a personal initiative raised with own funds, to bring a solution to the problematic situation in our country towards local environmental foundations, governmental environmental procedures and overall corruption related to nature, wildlife and the ocean, derived from the actual status.
Our volunteer Board of Directors is a group of professionals and high executives toward marketing, public relations, sales, laws and image, assisted by environmental consultors as well.
The history of all foundations, refuges and environment offices of the government in Costa Rica, have always depended on the governmental policies toward supervision , surveillance and support, however, the bad management and “lack of money” has turned our own government in one more enemy of the environment preservation.
We are conformed as an association, independent of the government management but under the environmental laws of Costa Rica, which by the way are pretty good, however disorganization, corruption and personal interests have diminished them to a chaotic status during the last 20 years, where only individual actions of a few ones have accomplished certain momentary goals.
OUR PLANS AND TARGETS
We pretend to set a model of an Environmental Organization based on professional and effective methods of information, education, preservation and protection, showing facts above all regarding the solution of problems.
Many foundations are working in several initiatives towards nature preservation, however, when it comes to real protection they rely on the government and here started the problem 20 years ago.
Our first immediate solution is DEFENSE, accomplished by a national & foreign volunteer force, authorized by the Government and directed by our organization through an Officers Team of 30 persons on charge of the whole volunteers force all over the country. The volunteers can be of all nationalities, most of them students. Law enforced Nature Officers, properly trained and authorized to work together with local authorities will be the first step to stop poaching, nest hacking ,wild life commerce, pollution and deforestation.
Our medium and long term solutions: Maybe the most important topics of all, is our intention to focus the solutions getting fully involved with the main social factors which are probably the origin of the vicious circle.
Continuous improvement solutions toward education and nature awareness, tied up to real job opportunities and training, are probably our best allies to eradicate the problem. The main gap lays not on our lack of honesty and ethics toward the environment, it lays on the lack of involvement of our government towards the needs of the people, which finally is forced to get hold of any mean of income to provide their families.
Poaching, nest hacking, deforestation, pollution and wildlife illegal commerce are the firsts targets to be eradicated for us. Organic Agriculture & Farming, Sustainable Tourism, Hand Works, Clothes Printing and other retail jobs are our solutions to avoid recidivism.

Social Programs for Poachers
We have design several effective internet media tools to communicate our mission and an Eco-Travel Agency to help us for collecting funds, besides asking for donations, offering our Tour planning and operation services for all those tourists interested in visiting Costa Rica and cooperate with nature. This is the only one Travel Agency in Costa Rica exclusively working for an environmental cause, for which we need a lot of help with a worldwide advertising campaign as well. Besides our web site, our other related media links are:
1) Face Book page (51,000 fans) 2) Costa Rica Nature & Adventure Tours 3) Face Book Music Channel
4) You Tube Video Channel (biography of founder included)
A 5 years old child, representant of the future generations we stand for…witnesses the miracle of life together with his family…thanks to Rainsong Wildlife Educational Program.
Only one Travel Agency in the country, dedicated exclusively to an environmental cause
The reason why we are alone, why we must stick together and why we think the way we do! (Did Copenhagen really fail…?)

HIGHSEAS & ON-GROUND WAR OF ATTRITION :
This is not a war of nations…this is not a decision call of any politician, spiritual leader or Government agency. This is a war of mankind against its own extinction. Sea Shepherd is leading the right war on high seas, but this is just half the battle.
Ing. Marco Garrido - Founder of this site and the Research Center C.I.P.I Costa Rica
The lack of a coordinated on-ground offensive will eternally delay Sea Shepherd´s global results…though highly effective on high seas, Watson´s crew is literally fighting alone. Why?
Well, quite easy…by Watson´s own words: Due to economic reasons! And we showed you above the macro economy and international trading export figures of the only 2 countries who could change the course of this Whales War…they won´t move a finger toward mankind´s own extinction concerns!
We say that SSCS is literally fighting alone, because we believe that no environmental organization on ground is achieving a hundredth part of what Sea Shepherd is doing on high seas, regarding their battle against whales extinction through massive commercial murdering. Therefore, the imbalance and delay in the global impact of SSCS good results.
Regarding our comment above, we consulted Georgienne Bradley , Executive Director of Imaging Foundation and we quoted her words: “…so there are a few orgs that are hard hitting on ground…”,and she adds “…Earth First and other underground orgs are doing a good job..”
Ok, we agree with her and we reconsider their “contribution drops” to this oceanic war. But according to our research we still think that a few are not enough in this war. Against those giant nations backing up Japan´s operations with their indifference to the “Whales Genocide”…”a few good men” is not enough for the Whales War!
On the other hand, proposing boycott campaigns against Japan´s products are useless…high costs of fuels ties our hands…do I save a whale or do I save my money buying a japanese car?, may appear to be the main question! Do I save a dolphin or do I buy a high quality-low price DVD player for my japanese car? Please, do not feel attacked or try to look for an excuse to justify your buying decisions …I am guilty as well! What we are exactly pointing at, is to our core social and economical problems. Mathematically and with a little bit of sociology theory we are showing you all, that we have lost control over a boycott to Japan´s products many years ago.
We ask you all guys, that call yourself eco-warriors: what kind of cars are we driving, what kind of audio equipments we have at home, what trademark are our 42″ TVs ??? Now more than ever, our weak economies depend on the nations that are massively murdering these poor creatures…case closed!
How do we get out then, of this vicious circle of useless campaigns, useless good intentions and disoriented on-ground environmental offensives, way behind from the SSCS excellence on high seas strategy? Again, we believe the answer is quite easy..but would be the implementation of the solution that we propose feasible?
-
Our idea is that we must get together and design as a team, an attrition war on-ground offensive as effective and well thought as SSCS passive-agressive strategy on high seas..! And afterwards, we must arm ourselves of patience, because it is going to take a while until it starts affecting our enemies profits…again Mr. Watson would be the best example and teacher of perseverance…this new war on ground we are proposing won´t be the same as the eco fashion “T-Shirts and Stickers War” we are used to, our friends!
We believe that extreme situations demand extreme solutions and extraordinary men to support them! Tell us Mr. Watson, are we wrong?
INSIDE JAPAN EDUCATION CAMPAIGN
As effective as the Steve Irwin and as fast as the Ady Gil vessels, would be the results of a well designed education offensive inside Japan. We ignore if further conversations or actions have been done toward this topic. Until now we are not aware of it!
DID COPENHAGEN REALLY FAIL?
If we keep believing that world leaders are going to support fully the environmental issues, even after showing you just a few exporting and importing figures related to some topics involved in the whole Copenhagen Package …if we still believe that…well yes, Copenhagen failed. And we are not being ungrateful with the few who helped…but again, a few are not enough…
On the other hand, our thesis based on a world coalition of eco-organizations observes Copenhagen as one of the most succesful environmental events ever…it gathered hundreds of millions of people in one voice, and now most of them connected through all this media phenomema called social nets…
Can´t you see the mysterious ways the Universe moves?…it knew the result even before Copenhagen started but it knew also, that it was going to be the most succesful gathering in history of fellow brothers of the cause. Now we only need just one leader per country to form the United Green Nations , or whatever name we would think is the best.
Think about it…we are far away from failing, because we didn´t…we won at Copenhagen if we capitalize wisely this world unification that we have witnessed!
WE HONESTLY EXPECT THAT OUR CRITICS AND POINTS OF VIEW, WILL START SOONER THE WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DEBATE THAT MANKIND NEEDS TO SAVE US FROM AN IMMINENT EXTINCTION !
Our message to SSCS…
